WP Tangerine sells unlimited WordPress task plans aimed at agencies and busy site owners (3,000+ sites worked on, 56 full time employees per their site). We are an alternative for teams who want senior engineering on call with a written response SLA, not a queued task list.
If you only have a minute, read this. Full comparison and proof below.
Pick us if you need fast senior response when something breaks and a named engineer on the site. Pick WP Tangerine if you mostly need a queue of small content and design tweaks every week and you already have someone handling emergencies.
If your real need is unlimited small tweaks (image swaps, copy changes, minor CSS, theme adjustments) and you rarely have emergencies, the unlimited task queue model fits and works out cheaper per ticket.

How we scored this
Every row in the table has a defensible source. If a claim isn't here, it isn't in the score. Last full re-verification: June 2026.
Public pricing pages, feature lists, and terms of service from WP Tangerine as of the last update date, plus hands on experience running the same maintenance work we compare. When WP Tangerine changes a plan, we update the row.
Winner is decided by what the buyer actually gets in the plan, not by which side markets it louder. If WP Tangerine does something better than us, that row is theirs. Ties are called when the feature is materially the same.
We don't score claims we can't verify (e.g. 'best-in-class', 'enterprise-grade', anonymous testimonials). Response SLA, backup cadence, and included edit hours are only counted when they appear in the vendor's public terms.

No spin. Where they beat us, we say so. Winner cell is highlighted.

Talk to Scale tierPricing, as published
Copied from public pages, not from a sales call. Where a number is not published we say so rather than guess.
Unlimited task tiers
Published, tiered by response time and seats
Positioned as unlimited requests worked through a queue, one task at a time.
Guarantee
30 day money back
Refund window published on the plans page.
Checked against each provider's public pages in July 2026. Prices change, so treat these as a starting point and ask for the current sheet before you sign. Where a provider gates a number behind a sales call, we write that instead of guessing.
From the support forums
Patterns we see repeated on the WordPress.org support forums, Reddit threads about WordPress care plans, and in handover calls when someone moves to us. Paraphrased, never copied, never attributed to a named person.
Unlimited means one at a time
The standard unlimited task model runs a single queue. Ten requests is ten turns, not ten in parallel, and buyers often learn this after signing.
How we handle it: We scope monthly engineering hours plainly and escalate emergencies out of the normal queue immediately.
Queue backlogs during busy periods
When demand spikes, turnaround on routine tasks stretches and there is no per plan SLA to point at.
How we handle it: Written response windows per plan. If we miss one, that is a refund conversation, not an apology email.
Dev heavy work escalates badly
Task queues are built for small edits. A real debugging session, a database issue or a checkout failure does not fit the format.
How we handle it: Senior engineers handle diagnosis directly. Query Monitor, staging reproduction and a written root cause, not a task ticket.
Buyer checklist
Take this list to WP Tangerine, to us, and to the next three providers you shortlist. If a provider dodges more than two of these, keep looking.
What is your response time in writing, per plan, not on the marketing page?
Almost every provider advertises 24/7. Far fewer will put a number per plan in the contract. Ask for the clause, not the badge.
Do you test plugin updates on staging, and what do you roll back with?
The single most common care plan failure is an update pushed straight to production. Ask which staging tool, who reviews it, and how long a rollback takes.
Where do backups live, and when did you last restore one?
A backup nobody has restored is a guess. Ask for the date of the last restore drill on a site like yours.
If my site is hacked while on your plan, who pays for the cleanup?
Many plans include scanning but bill cleanup separately, often several hundred dollars. Get the answer before you need it.
Who is the actual human on my site, and will it be the same person next month?
Shared ticket queues mean explaining again your stack every time. Ask for a name, and ask what happens when that person is on leave.
Is there a minimum term, and how do I cancel?
Minimum terms and cancel by phone policies are the two clauses buyers regret most. Cancelling should be one email.
What is explicitly not included?
Content edits, new features, design changes, and third party integrations are the usual exclusions. Get the out of scope list in writing.
Can I see a real monthly report from an anonymised client?
Reports show what a provider actually does in a quiet month. If they cannot show one, the work may be thinner than the plan page suggests.

Honest answers
Everything founders ask before they switch. If yours is not here, ask on WhatsApp and we will answer in plain English.
It is unlimited in count, not in scope. Most unlimited task plans cap task size at around 30 minutes of work and queue them in series, meaning a 5 task week takes 5 working days minimum. For one off tweaks that works. For emergencies it does not.
Care plans pay for the work you do not see: monitoring, staging tests, backups, security checks, performance tuning. Unlimited task plans pay for the work you ask for. Different products for different problems.
Some teams do. We handle the always on care, security, and emergencies. WP Tangerine or similar handles a steady stream of content tweaks. Clean split.
Most sites are onboarded inside 48 hours. We take a full backup, run a baseline audit, set up monitoring, and brief you in plain English before we touch anything live. Zero downtime, no missed emails, no broken links.
Every plan is covered by a 30 day money back guarantee in plain language. Cancel inside the first thirty days for any reason and you get a full refund. No forms, no friction.
No. We keep your URLs, redirects, sitemaps, and schema intact. We also baseline your Google Search Console before the move so we can prove ranking stability after.
Senior WordPress engineers based in the US and Pakistan, on call 24 by 7. From the $199 Care Plus plan, you get a named lead engineer who owns your site, replies on first name terms, and stays the same person month after month.
No. Emergency response is included in every care plan. If your site goes down at 2 AM, we are already on it before you wake up. No surprise invoices.
Yes. Monthly plans cancel any time with one email. Annual plans cancel inside the 30 day window for a full refund, and after that on a prorated basis. No retention loops, no forced calls.
We benchmark ourselves against every serious option. Pick another and read it.
