WP-Tonic is well known in the WordPress LMS and membership space, with 900+ podcast episodes behind the brand and deep specialism in LearnDash, LifterLMS, MemberPress, BuddyBoss, and FluentCommunity. We are a broader alternative for SMBs, agencies, and ecommerce stores that do not need an LMS or membership specialist.
If you only have a minute, read this. Full comparison and proof below.
Pick us for general WordPress care, WooCommerce, and emergency support with a written SLA. Pick WP-Tonic if your site is specifically an LMS, membership, or community build (LearnDash, LifterLMS, MemberPress, BuddyBoss) and you want a recognised specialist.
If WordPress LMS, membership, or community is the core of your business and you need someone who has been in that niche for a decade, WP-Tonic has more depth in that niche than most generalists.

How we scored this
Every row in the table has a defensible source. If a claim isn't here, it isn't in the score. Last full re-verification: June 2026.
Public pricing pages, feature lists, and terms of service from WP-Tonic as of the last update date, plus hands on experience running the same maintenance work we compare. When WP-Tonic changes a plan, we update the row.
Winner is decided by what the buyer actually gets in the plan, not by which side markets it louder. If WP-Tonic does something better than us, that row is theirs. Ties are called when the feature is materially the same.
We don't score claims we can't verify (e.g. 'best-in-class', 'enterprise-grade', anonymous testimonials). Response SLA, backup cadence, and included edit hours are only counted when they appear in the vendor's public terms.

No spin. Where they beat us, we say so. Winner cell is highlighted.

Talk to Scale tierPricing, as published
Copied from public pages, not from a sales call. Where a number is not published we say so rather than guess.
Microsite
$55/mo
Smallest managed tier, low contact and member limits.
Basic
$159/mo
Roughly $1,908 a year. Built around LMS and membership stacks.
Growth
$269/mo
Scales with members and contacts rather than with engineering time.
Checked against each provider's public pages in July 2026. Prices change, so treat these as a starting point and ask for the current sheet before you sign. Where a provider gates a number behind a sales call, we write that instead of guessing.
From the support forums
Patterns we see repeated on the WordPress.org support forums, Reddit threads about WordPress care plans, and in handover calls when someone moves to us. Paraphrased, never copied, never attributed to a named person.
Priced for LMS and membership, not brochure sites
A standard business or ecommerce site pays for LearnDash and BuddyBoss depth it will never touch.
How we handle it: Plans are priced on the work your site actually needs. We do run LMS sites, we just do not charge everyone for it.
Cost scales with contacts, not with risk
Owners describe the bill climbing because a list grew, while the maintenance workload stayed flat.
How we handle it: Flat monthly pricing per site. Traffic growth does not change your invoice.
Niche focus narrows the bench
Deep specialism is a strength until your problem is outside it, then you are back on the open market.
How we handle it: Core, security, performance, WooCommerce and hosting escalation are all in house, so one team owns the whole surface.
Buyer checklist
Take this list to WP-Tonic, to us, and to the next three providers you shortlist. If a provider dodges more than two of these, keep looking.
What is your response time in writing, per plan, not on the marketing page?
Almost every provider advertises 24/7. Far fewer will put a number per plan in the contract. Ask for the clause, not the badge.
Do you test plugin updates on staging, and what do you roll back with?
The single most common care plan failure is an update pushed straight to production. Ask which staging tool, who reviews it, and how long a rollback takes.
Where do backups live, and when did you last restore one?
A backup nobody has restored is a guess. Ask for the date of the last restore drill on a site like yours.
If my site is hacked while on your plan, who pays for the cleanup?
Many plans include scanning but bill cleanup separately, often several hundred dollars. Get the answer before you need it.
Who is the actual human on my site, and will it be the same person next month?
Shared ticket queues mean explaining again your stack every time. Ask for a name, and ask what happens when that person is on leave.
Is there a minimum term, and how do I cancel?
Minimum terms and cancel by phone policies are the two clauses buyers regret most. Cancelling should be one email.
What is explicitly not included?
Content edits, new features, design changes, and third party integrations are the usual exclusions. Get the out of scope list in writing.
Can I see a real monthly report from an anonymised client?
Reports show what a provider actually does in a quiet month. If they cannot show one, the work may be thinner than the plan page suggests.

Honest answers
Everything founders ask before they switch. If yours is not here, ask on WhatsApp and we will answer in plain English.
Yes. We support LearnDash, LifterLMS, MemberPress, Restrict Content Pro, and Paid Memberships Pro on standard care plans. For sites where the LMS or membership is the entire product, a specialist like WP-Tonic may still be the better long term partner. For sites where LMS is one feature among many, we are the better generalist fit.
We maintain BuddyBoss and FluentCommunity sites on standard plans. WP-Tonic has more depth on community architecture and member journey work specifically. If community is the core of your business, talk to them first.
Some LMS owners do. We handle the always on care, hosting, security, and WooCommerce side of the business. WP-Tonic handles LMS specific architecture and feature work. Clean split.
Most sites are onboarded inside 48 hours. We take a full backup, run a baseline audit, set up monitoring, and brief you in plain English before we touch anything live. Zero downtime, no missed emails, no broken links.
Every plan is covered by a 30 day money back guarantee in plain language. Cancel inside the first thirty days for any reason and you get a full refund. No forms, no friction.
No. We keep your URLs, redirects, sitemaps, and schema intact. We also baseline your Google Search Console before the move so we can prove ranking stability after.
Senior WordPress engineers based in the US and Pakistan, on call 24 by 7. From the $199 Care Plus plan, you get a named lead engineer who owns your site, replies on first name terms, and stays the same person month after month.
No. Emergency response is included in every care plan. If your site goes down at 2 AM, we are already on it before you wake up. No surprise invoices.
Yes. Monthly plans cancel any time with one email. Annual plans cancel inside the 30 day window for a full refund, and after that on a prorated basis. No retention loops, no forced calls.
We benchmark ourselves against every serious option. Pick another and read it.
