WP Buffs built the brand for 24/7 WordPress care. Their Maintain plan is $89/mo. We built ours for founders who want the same coverage with a written response SLA, a named engineer from $199, and a 30 day money back guarantee in plain English.
If you only have a minute, read this. Full comparison and proof below.
Pick us if you want a published response time in writing, a named lead engineer on Care Plus and up, and a real refund window. Pick WP Buffs if you want a bigger brand name and you do not mind a shared ticket queue.
If you already use HubSpot, Kinsta, and Rank Math at scale and want a partner deep inside that ecosystem, WP Buffs has those partnerships locked in.

How we scored this
Every row in the table has a defensible source. If a claim isn't here, it isn't in the score. Last full re-verification: June 2026.
Public pricing pages, feature lists, and terms of service from WP Buffs as of the last update date, plus hands on experience running the same maintenance work we compare. When WP Buffs changes a plan, we update the row.
Winner is decided by what the buyer actually gets in the plan, not by which side markets it louder. If WP Buffs does something better than us, that row is theirs. Ties are called when the feature is materially the same.
We don't score claims we can't verify (e.g. 'best-in-class', 'enterprise-grade', anonymous testimonials). Response SLA, backup cadence, and included edit hours are only counted when they appear in the vendor's public terms.

No spin. Where they beat us, we say so. Winner cell is highlighted.

Talk to Scale tierPricing, as published
Copied from public pages, not from a sales call. Where a number is not published we say so rather than guess.
Maintain
$89/mo
Entry care tier. 24/7 support advertised, edit requests capped by task type.
Higher tiers
Quote only
Growth and custom tiers are priced after a sales conversation, not published on the plans page.
White label
Quote only
Agency reseller program is quote based, priced per site volume.
Checked against each provider's public pages in July 2026. Prices change, so treat these as a starting point and ask for the current sheet before you sign. Where a provider gates a number behind a sales call, we write that instead of guessing.
From the support forums
Patterns we see repeated on the WordPress.org support forums, Reddit threads about WordPress care plans, and in handover calls when someone moves to us. Paraphrased, never copied, never attributed to a named person.
Nobody agrees what counts as an included edit
The most repeated complaint about task based care plans is the grey zone between a small edit and a billable project. Owners describe sending what they thought was a ten minute change and getting a quote back.
How we handle it: We publish the out of scope list in the onboarding brief. If a request crosses the line we tell you the estimate before we start, never after.
Turnaround drifts on non urgent tickets
Emergency response gets the attention. The slow burn frustration is the routine ticket that sits for days because it is not on fire.
How we handle it: Every plan has a written first response window for routine work, not just emergencies, and it is on the invoice.
Upgrade pressure instead of a straight answer
Buyers report being routed to a higher tier when the honest answer was that their current plan already covered it.
How we handle it: We will tell you when a cheaper plan is enough, and we will tell you when we are the wrong fit at all.
No name on the account
Shared queues mean explaining again your stack, your host quirks and your plugin history to a new person every month.
How we handle it: From Care Plus at $199 you get a named lead engineer who stays the same person, with a documented runbook per site.
Buyer checklist
Take this list to WP Buffs, to us, and to the next three providers you shortlist. If a provider dodges more than two of these, keep looking.
What is your response time in writing, per plan, not on the marketing page?
Almost every provider advertises 24/7. Far fewer will put a number per plan in the contract. Ask for the clause, not the badge.
Do you test plugin updates on staging, and what do you roll back with?
The single most common care plan failure is an update pushed straight to production. Ask which staging tool, who reviews it, and how long a rollback takes.
Where do backups live, and when did you last restore one?
A backup nobody has restored is a guess. Ask for the date of the last restore drill on a site like yours.
If my site is hacked while on your plan, who pays for the cleanup?
Many plans include scanning but bill cleanup separately, often several hundred dollars. Get the answer before you need it.
Who is the actual human on my site, and will it be the same person next month?
Shared ticket queues mean explaining again your stack every time. Ask for a name, and ask what happens when that person is on leave.
Is there a minimum term, and how do I cancel?
Minimum terms and cancel by phone policies are the two clauses buyers regret most. Cancelling should be one email.
What is explicitly not included?
Content edits, new features, design changes, and third party integrations are the usual exclusions. Get the out of scope list in writing.
Can I see a real monthly report from an anonymised client?
Reports show what a provider actually does in a quiet month. If they cannot show one, the work may be thinner than the plan page suggests.
How we are different
Written response SLA
24h Care, 4h Care Plus, 1h Commerce, 15 min Scale. In writing on every invoice, not buried in chat.
30 day money back
Cancel inside 30 days for a full refund. No retention call, no exit survey, no friction.
Named lead engineer
From Care Plus, the same senior engineer owns your site. You will know their name and meet them on Zoom.
Plain English invoicing
Every report says what we did, why, and what is next. No jargon, no upsell traps.
"I compared three care providers head to head before picking WebCare. The SLA was the only one I could quote back at them in writing. Six months in, zero downtime and the same engineer every month."
Aaron Golov
Founder, managing 12 client WordPress sites

Honest answers
Everything founders ask before they switch. If yours is not here, ask on WhatsApp and we will answer in plain English.
Yes, WP Buffs is one of the most established names in WordPress care with a strong agency program. The honest gap is no published per plan response SLA, no public team page, and no published refund policy. If those three things matter to you, we are a better fit. If brand recognition matters more, they are a safe pick.
Yes. We onboard most sites in under 48 hours. Full backup, baseline audit, monitoring setup, and a plain language brief before we touch anything. Migration is included on every plan, no setup fee.
WP Buffs Maintain is $89/mo, ours starts at $99/mo Care. The extra $10 buys you a published refund window, a written SLA, and a faster path to a named engineer. At $199 Care Plus you get a named engineer; at WP Buffs the same level of personal coverage typically requires a higher plan.
MVP is their managed VIP tier for high traffic and high revenue sites, with priority response and dedicated account management. Comparable to our $799 Scale plan with a named senior engineer.
Most sites are onboarded inside 48 hours. We take a full backup, run a baseline audit, set up monitoring, and brief you in plain English before we touch anything live. Zero downtime, no missed emails, no broken links.
Every plan is covered by a 30 day money back guarantee in plain language. Cancel inside the first thirty days for any reason and you get a full refund. No forms, no friction.
No. We keep your URLs, redirects, sitemaps, and schema intact. We also baseline your Google Search Console before the move so we can prove ranking stability after.
Senior WordPress engineers based in the US and Pakistan, on call 24 by 7. From the $199 Care Plus plan, you get a named lead engineer who owns your site, replies on first name terms, and stays the same person month after month.
No. Emergency response is included in every care plan. If your site goes down at 2 AM, we are already on it before you wake up. No surprise invoices.
Yes. Monthly plans cancel any time with one email. Annual plans cancel inside the 30 day window for a full refund, and after that on a prorated basis. No retention loops, no forced calls.
We benchmark ourselves against every serious option. Pick another and read it.
